About Don Paullin, President of Don Paullin & Associates, Inc.
Don Paullin is a
former pharmaceutical executive turned high power entrepreneur who is
the founder of several million dollar organizations. Don's innovative
programs on hiring, firing, and promotion earned him huge success with
one company from growing from $0 to $8 million in just 3 years. His
expert advice has been featured on CNN and been featured on the pages
of today's hottest business publications.
Searle armed Don
with, virtually, a million dollar investment budget in hiring, firing
and human capital development programs. Don parlayed the skills learned
and his experiences into his newly founded company called Don Paullin
and Associates some of his clients include: Searle Pharmaceuticals,
Aldridge Electric Company, Bernard Chevrolet, the American Institute
of Banking, Century Electric, Harris Bank, Illinois State Women in Banking,
Super Clubs International of the West Indies, and Women in Construction.
Dons hiring and
human capital development systems helped him in several executive positions
and in building successful companies. Don attributes his successful
executive career in over 7 company's to hiring the best people for the
jobs, creating an environment for their success and terminating substandard
performers. This concept leads to a team of championship performers
that produce championship profits.
Don Paullin was
most recently CEO/President of MedSmart LLC and Physicians Interactive
($8MM). He sold the company in 1999 to Allscripts Healthcare Solutions,
Inc., an $85MM public company (NASDAQ: MDRX), a provider of clinical
software and information systems for physicians. It immediately went
IPO and Don remained as President for two plus years. PI is now a Division
of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc.
Prior to the sale,
Don, along with his son, Devin, initiated the development of Physicians
Interactive (PI), a market leader in innovative and interactive product
solutions for physicians and healthcare professionals via e-commerce
and Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Physicians Interactive is a trusted
physician communication platform that services 46 pharmaceutical, biotech,
and medical device companies, including nine of the top ten major pharmaceutical
firms. PI operates in nine countries outside the US and is uniquely
positioned to capture a growing share of the physician information and
education marketplace.
Growing up in Kansas,
Mr. Paullin began his career as a Sales Representative for Searle Laboratories
and worked his way up to being ranked number one in the sales force
; He later became the National Director of Searle's Sales Development
Center the beginning of Searle University. Don's team was responsible
for sales and marketing management training, people development, hiring,
firing, launching of new pharmaceutical products, and developing innovative
and state-of-the-art sales materials for all products.
One of Don's team's
most memorable achievements was to develop a system for hiring and firing
that resulted in championship producers that were compliant EEOC guidelines.
The results were a company of stronger sales and marketing people while
reducing the likelihood of lawsuits. The hiring system, promotional
ladder and terminating of deadwood helped position Searle as a top performing
pharmaceutical company.
Following his nearly
20-year career with Searle, where Don held various senior level positions,
Vice President of Professional Medical Marketing Corporation, CEO of
Rockland Corporation, he was named President/CEO of Medicode Marketing
Corp (MMC).

but Don parlayed the skills learned and his experiences with his newly
founded company called Executive Planning and Promotions. Thanks to
generous training and management experiences Don was able to develop
interactive corporate training programs and founded the company Executive
Planning and Promotions. He was utilized by clients such as: Aldridge
Electric Company, Bernard Chevrolet, (The) American Institute of Banking,
Century Electric, Harris Bank, Illinois State Women in Banking, Searle
Pharmaceuticals, Super Clubs International of the West Indies, and Women
in Construction.
Don then created
MedSmart LLC (the parent company of Physicians Interactive), a successful
medical reference materials and practice-related software business,
and sold it.
Don received his
B.S. in Business at Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia (now known
as Emporia State University). In addition, Don has been an active keynote
speaker as the pioneer and leading expert of eDetailingTM at many pharmaceutical
events and annual meetings. He has been highlighted in national magazines
and was interviewed by ...In 2001 he completed his M.S. in Human Resource
Development at National Louis University, Evanston, IL.
